Its been awhile since I came here to give myself a bit of ME time (Not that I haven’t been – facebook/twitter has been such an addictive, checking it seems to be really part of my life)

Anyway, lets get down in the details and hopefully, I’ll be able to get some pictorials out to help in my atrocious descriptive english.

So, I’ve been in Manchester for at least 2 months now, studying my course in Pharmacy. (I’m already giving myself that face of confusion when I typed my current pursue degree) but let me explain, I was doing the diploma in Biomedical Science where one fine day/week/month in my last year felt that probably pursuing biomedical science as a degree really wouldn’t be my interest. But I must say that I love biology. I love how our cells, tissues, muscles and system work to create who we are as individuals but probably some humanities in my course of study would boost the interest in my course of study. Although there are definitely more details to why I am in Manchester studying pharmacy. This is probably a good reason why I changed my course.

To learn both soft skills, hard skills, the culture and whatever you can think of while being alone studying overseas

I learn that talk is cheap and anyone can do that

and that moral support from anyone melts the heart (:

I know I haven’t mentioned about events that I have tweet/facebook about but I’ll definitely post something on my SPAIN trip 2 weeks ago!

I’m back in my hall, staring right across the other blocks of flats, hearing laughters from the many others downstairs. I don’t know how to continue, to comment about what I experienced, but being the minority isn’t a thing to be poked fun at. Whist trying to fit in, I try my best to not loose myself.

I know I shouldn’t be shaken from what I have seen or what I’ve experience. But the night is one night I’ll probably not go again. Sadly, I do not have the charismatic gift to charm my way through but I believe I am ready to for this challenge to be here with this environment to make a name for myself.

I stare at all the pictures by the wall, all the gifts and letters from people I love and I know I will be able to make it. Thank you whoever is reading this for making it so special for me.

Its nearly a week since I have arrived Manchester!

Everything seems different here

Meals are no exception! (cold sandwiches and no hot soup! )

I’m hanging in there, mom is here for the first week of company

While friends have nothing been but great support and encouragement for me to keep me motivated to my goal.

I’ll get the pictures up soon! Its gonna be my last night with momsie.

Exactly 2 more weeks and I’m leaving this comfort zone, this country and a place where I call home. The thought of it never fails to make my heart sour. So much so that, that whenever anyone mentions about it, tears whelm my eyes up. I have never been more appreciative of the people who cared so much for me.

Ask my emotions and I’ll say I’m anxious like crazy. How I wish I can just skip the part of trying to settle down and just be settled with the environment already!

I’m thankful for all the friends that I have been met up, both old and new, transition it is, just gotta embrace it with a big heart. Thank you for giving me everything you have.

In about 2 weeks, I’ll be taking my ballet exam, entering the exact same room with a completely different examiner, taking a different grade with a time difference of 3 years. Honestly, with a completely different take and feeling to this exam. I have no clue what to expect of myself. I’ll probably take it with grace and smile when the time actually comes. I just do the silent prayers I have been doing for all the nerve wrecking events I’ve been to.

In about 4 weeks then, I’ll be leaving Singapore for my studies over in UK. Ready? Prepared? – No. Nothing’s done. Nothing’s approved. More appointments and phone calls to make and the time I can squeeze for everyone who cared about me. Be it significant or not, they have brought me to where I am today and I’m nothing but grateful for the wonderful support I had from everyone.

As I pen these words down, I’m literally asking myself, will I be ready to leave for the new environment that I had daringly placed myself into few months back when I made the decision? I guess I’ll never be ready, never be prepared but throwing that aside, I know I’ll definitely embrace myself for this.

Life will probably throw us a thousand things, I’m probably too young to have a biography, but then again, even Justin Bieber has an autobiography at the age of 15. I have faced issues during the past few years of growing up. Taking responsibilities for whatever actions I made. I probably didn’t had as many hurdles to jump over as compared to the million of girls out there. But I had my own fair share of pains and issues to look at.

I have a set of believes for myself. Sometimes, these believes tend to waiver due to the circumstances that come across me. I don’t expect anyone including my family to see what I believe in. Because, my actions came with price. The experiences I picked up from people or myself.

This post is probably one of the wordiest post I have ever got myself in ever since the new year came. Not that thoughts had be always superficial, but I’ve learnt – that the online media is one scary place to be too involved in. It kills.

I believe that happiness is within our own grasp and whatever emotions you choose to be in while a happy person may not have a fairytale life, she chooses to see things at a different perspective.

Reasons why I don’t have to worry being slam

1. This little space is almost dead with minute number of readers

2. What I’m going to type about is not from a patient’s point of view but from an allied health personnel

3. I’m not going to put artsy-fartsy pictures to entertain you and just boring words with my limited vocabulary

One of the main concern mentioned by almost all Singaporeans is the HEALTHCARE we have in Singapore, complains ranging from the..

1. COST

2. Waiting time aka Service

3. How much the government is spending on the healthcare system

COST

Ok, so besides the rich and famous, who doesn’t complain that our healthcare isn’t expensive? That surgeries will not cost more then the thousands of dollars? And that visits to the doctors will cost you more then the 3 meals you have a day?

But how much do you want the government to subsidize? 80/90% of everything? So that you pay hundreds/tens for your consultations with specialists or GP? So where would these subsidy come from? (Rhetorical question BTW) Its the income tax that HEALTHY working adults will have to pay monthly to subsidize your consultation. I mean look at the developed states in the world. READ ABOUT THEIR INCOME TAX and the COMPLAINS they make.

Some then will later suggest, CUT THE GOVERNMENT’s PAY! (Not that I disagree/agree to that comment) But soon, years from now, every year, the government’s pay will have to be cut 10% to cope with human’s selfishness of having really cheap healthcare system where healthcare becomes a WANT and not a NEED. (DIFFERENCE FYI)

Or what about asking the doctors/allied health personnels to charge cheaper? If you are having that thought, (seriously, you are dead selfish) What if someone asked you to take home only 80% of your current pay?

Waiting time aka Service

About a week ago, SDP mentioned that they wanted to convert HDB void decks into small polyclinics to serve Singaporeans (to cut waiting time and what not) and their panel of 4 doctors said it was FEASIBLE.

I do not disagree to the fact that you can just start building rooms, buy equipments and furnitures. But where are you going attract healthcare professions to the MANY polyclinics that you want to build?

We have ALOT of private clinics around Singapore and we have the doctors but why aren’t they choosing to serve in the public hospitals or polyclinics that we have? So what makes you think that these doctors will flock into the new polyclinics that one wants to build? Then it comes to the allied health personnels that WE need. I mean like common, step into any hospital and you realize we are already served by the “foreigners” that Singaporeans are so strongly against it. Dig deeper, and asked? Why ain’t I getting served by a Singaporean?

Lastly,

Quote from Mr John Tan during the SDP rally, “They can spend 12 per cent of our GDP on defence but they spend 1.6 per cent on healthcare” Honestly, I don’t disagree with what he has mentioned. I mean like REALLY, 1.6% on healthcare?! Thats like fregging little. But I wouldn’t make a big hu ha about the 12% on our defence. (Cause being a typical S’porean, we’ll start complaining and blame the GOVERNMENT again if we ever get attack)

I may seem bias, shallow and blah blah but I am getting very annoyed with GE highly because it just wouldn’t let me off (I’m hearing it at home, on the way to work/home and at work) So even thou I have not attended a single rally, I’m pretty much informed.

Maybe its the culture, GE is getting very heated up.

So after the OCBC cycle few weeks back

Trekking, didn’t seem like a bad idea to get my growing bum smaller!

Thou S’pore isn’t a big state/city/country (Gosh! the ” / ” really seemed to be appropriate in this context!) Thou not for the adrenaline junkie or nature lover. Macritchie reservoir does seemed like a great place for beginners to see if nature is really their thing!

I’ve been into Pulau Ubin and Endau Rompin a year ago, so heading for such a nature hike with Nx seemed enticing, thank gosh for the common interest somewhere between us! I really do not mind sweating! HEE!

The weather sorta didn’t agree with us that day, thou it didn’t rain for the first kilometer or so! It POURED so heavily after!  We spent most of our time at Petai HUT! Where I started being retarded!

He is really one guy that I can really be that retarded without worrying if he is going to think anything bad of me ( YOU BETTER NOT! ) And I started dancing in the rain! YES! FINALLY MANAGE TO DANCE IN THE RAIN!

I’m a happy girl!

And we decided to “run” on the trail back! Definitely not the same as running on flat route. Wonder if I will ready enough to take on bigger runs later this year or next. (The office work hours has totally screwed my motivation to run on weekdays while dance is thrice a week!)

 Really sorry for leaving this place empty for quite abit! I probably lost that little amount of readers I had to begin with. Hopefully this post will be the start of weekly posts that I hope to commit!

Subway in the morning while waiting for the rest of the gang! Un-surprisingly, the guys were the ones that were late. (Which explains why the first picture had 2 guys missing) Everyone was sharing the food! We already had the plan to ride the galactic battle-star roller coaster ride FIRST before we even entered!

And the queue at 10am was disgustingly long. ):

Greeted by smiling staff, mascots and the unusual scenes one would be exposed to on usual days! It was so hard to resist temptations while walking to the destinate ride! And I (unsuprisingly) failed the temptations and ran towards the hat shop/booth! Just had to try on at least one hat! Poor Zuer had to drag me away!

Zee RIDE!

We were lucky that we gotta enjoy the highlight roller coaster with 3 different scenarios! SUNNY, RAINY and NIGHT! So the picture above, was yes, after the rainy galactic battlestar ride! We were all basically trying to wipe the water off throughout the ride.

And you cannot miss out KIDDY rides! HEH! I shall admit that the gang had to company to ride the rides. The kiddy side explosion just had to come alive! Its the only place for me to not look too toot!

And the shows were also awesome!

Of course being us, we MUST have retarded shots!

But you know, no amount of retarded shots will always look so beautiful without the amazing architecture created by the creators of universal studio! Honestly I can’t wait for USS in Japan and States!

And of course, part of their job is to create fairytale lands for kids (especially girls) – Me not excluded! To let us dream about our prince charming! <3
